Woman sues McDonald's saying hot fries burned her mouth

It looks like McDonald's may have gone a step too far when it comes to serving hot fries. A New York woman has filed a lawsuit against McDonald's, claiming the fries burned her mouth so badly that the damage may be permanent.

Accusations of overheated fries not safe for human consumption

In Catherine Luongo's lawsuit, she doesn't hold back on the claims. The incident happened on March 5 at the McDonald's across the street from Manhattan's Bryant Park.

Luongo claims that the fries served to her were "overheated and not safe for human consumption," calling out the employees as careless, reckless, and negligent.

The lawsuit also states that her injuries were "serious and severe," with burns to her mouth and tongue.

Luongo's lawsuit also states that she endured "a severe shock to the nervous system," "was confined to bed and home, caused to abstain from usual duties and activities," and that she "suffered great physical pain and mental anguish."

Lawsuit claims the injuries have caused disfigurement and scarring

Luongo's complaint was filed on July 21 in the New York State Supreme Court. Her complaint states that she was "forced to seek medical aid and attention."

The complaint also states that her injury-related health issues "may be permanent and lasting." Her claim states she has been left scarred and disfigured, and will be getting surgery to address those issues.

No comment from McDonald's

There's been no comment from McDonald's regarding this case. This certainly isn't the first time the mega-chain has gone through a lawsuit.

In 2013, a McDonald's was sued for serving "unreasonably and dangerously hot" fries to a three-year-old in Massachusetts. Also in 2013, a similar case was filed in Florida for "dangerously hot" Chicken McNuggets.
