Uber riders can now buy snacks and drinks for their ride
If you love the idea of enjoying a snack and a drink during your commute with Uber vehicles, you're going to be hyped about this announcement. With the new feature, dubbed "Eats for the Way," you'll be able to order a tea, coffee, or snack while in your Uber Black or Uber Black SUV.
Rolling out the new feature
Here's how it works. You can order your drink and snack at the same time as ordering your Uber. When the car arrives to pick you up, the driver will also have your order with them.
The goal is to add a level of comfort to your Uber ride while combining it with convenience. Because the Uber driver is picking up your order on the way, you'll save yourself time.
If you're the type who's always rushing to get out of the house, this convenience can be huge.
Available in select cities only
For now, this service is only available in select cities. As mentioned, it's also meant for the "higher end" Uber vehicles—the Uber Black and Uber Black SUV.
So, how much will this impact the everyday Uber passenger? Probably not a lot. But this is a new program, and if it does well, there's every hope that it will roll out to more cities and maybe more vehicle classes.
Uber is making changes to stay on top
This seems to be one of many changes coming to Uber as the company looks for ways to stay competitive. It recently announced its collaboration with Expedia to offer an Uber in-app hotel booking as part of its mobility and travel strategy.
Statistics show that Uber has more than 202 million active users as of 2025, making up 76% of the US rideshare market. Keeping things fresh and new seems to be the company's way of staying on top.
One more reason to choose Uber
If you happen to live in one of the cities where the new "Eats for the Way" offering is available, it may be worth giving it a try. And if you don't, well, here's to hoping the program is a huge success and becomes available in more markets.
