President Donald Trump has unveiled a new limited-edition U.S. passport design that features his image alongside a message for visitors. The special passport is being released as part of the country's America250 celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of American independence.

A preview shared by Trump on Truth Social reveals that a page features a portrait of the president looking stern alongside his signature. According to the post, Trump’s look in the passport sends a message demanding good conduct from those entering the United States.

Rollout details and availability

In the president’s own word, the new passport says, "Welcome, but be good! President DJT.”

Another page shows an illustration of the Founding Fathers signing the Declaration of Independence, with "United States of America 250" displayed beneath it. The commemorative design is expected to roll out this summer.

According to the United States Department of State, the limited-edition passports will be available to any U.S. citizen who applies for a passport during the rollout. They are not permanent replacements for standard passports. Instead, they will be available while supplies last as part of the America250 initiative.

Not the kind of passport redesign to expect

The passport is one piece of a much larger celebration surrounding America's 250th birthday. The administration has already announced several high-profile events tied to America250, including a Grand Prix race on the National Mall, a UFC event hosted at the White House South Lawn, and other nationwide commemorative activities. The passport is designed to become another collectible tied to the anniversary.

Most passport updates involve new security features or refreshed artwork. This one is making headlines for a very different reason. Whether people view it as a collector's item or a political statement, it's likely to become one of the most talked-about U.S. passport designs in recent memory.
