Papa Johns is letting Spirit customers trade worthless points for pizza
If you've got a bunch of Spirit Airlines points that now seem useless, there may be a way you can redeem them after all. Papa Johns has stepped up to the plate and is offering free pizza to people with loyalty points on Spirit Airlines.
Cashing in your points for pizza
It's not exactly the reward you signed up for when you created a Spirit Airlines loyalty membership, but it's still something.
On May 8, just a few days after Spirit Airlines grounded its planes, Papa Johns announced a limited-time promotion dubbed "Skies to Pies."
“Loyalty points don’t mean much if you can’t use them,” said Shivram Vaideeswaran, SVP of brand marketing at Papa Johns. “While we can’t fix canceled flights or lost membership points, hopefully we can provide a smile and a delicious pizza to those impacted.”
How to redeem your points
To cash in your points, you'll need to show proof of your rewards status. Your points can be redeemed for a free large one-topping pizza.
Here's where it gets a little tricky. You can't just go strolling into your local Papa Johns and expect a free pizza. You'll need to send a DM to @PapaJohns on Instagram that shows your rewards status. You can do this with a screenshot.
The promotion is only available for a limited time, and only for the first 250 verified rewards members.
Spirit Airlines shuts down after 32 years
On May 2, after 32 years in the business, Spirit Airlines announced it was shutting down and immediately grounding all its planes. While it wasn't a shock that the airline was experiencing issues, the announcement still hit the industry hard.
Passengers around the world were left stranded and out of luck, having to re-book with other airlines and spend a lot more money. It also meant that the hard-earned loyalty points meant nothing.
You'll need to act fast to qualify
Because this offer is available for a limited time, you're going to need to act really fast to qualify. A free pizza is pretty sweet, so this offer is worth jumping on.
