If you've got pre-packaged macaroni and cheese in your fridge, it's time to do a product check. More than 500,000 packages of macaroni and cheese are being recalled because of an undeclared allergen.

Pre-made refrigerated mac and cheese from Aldi may contain an allergen

Aldi's Park St. Deli Macaroni & Cheese is in the headlines, and not for the reasons the company would want. The FDA has classified an ongoing voluntary recall as a Class II risk because it may contain soy lecithin.

Soy lecithin is a plant-based food additive derived from soybeans. It can also be an allergen for some people.

Class II risks state that using the "violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences."

It's not entirely clear how many packages contain soy lecithin, but as of now, 500,000 have been recalled.

The packages being recalled

The exact product being recalled is the Park St. Deli Macaroni & Cheese 20-oz. container, a pre-made refrigerated side dish.

The recall was originally put out on March 23, before this new Class II update. You can find the exact UPC on Aldi's website to double-check if what you have is the product in question.

This isn't the only pasta staple having a bad w

Even if you don't have the Park St. Deli mac and cheese product, there's another pasta-related product at the center of a recall this past week. This is exactly why it's so important to stay on top of recalls.

The Coffee Connexion Co. Inc.'s Alfredo sauce has been recalled. This product was designated the highest-possible risk recall.

The Alfredo sauce has a risk of potential Salmonella contamination. It was originally recalled on May 6, and then the FDA updated it to a much higher risk category on June 4.

Be aware of what you've got

As a consumer, it's always important that you're aware of the food you have on hand and any potential product recalls. It can feel like a never-ending cycle of recalls, all meant to keep you safe.
