McDonald's is officially stepping into sneaker culture with Nike, and the result is a basketball shoe that skips the usual golden arches entirely. Instead, the new collaboration leans into turquoise.

This isn’t your typical McDonald’s collab. The sneaker is a special edition of the Nike Book 2, built for Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns. At first glance, it looks like a clean white basketball shoe. Then, you notice the details. Turquoise swooshes shaped like arches, minimal McDonald’s branding, and a colorway that feels more desert-inspired than fast-food themed.

The turquoise actually means something

The color isn’t random. It’s a nod to a real McDonald’s location in Sedona, Arizona, the only one in the world with turquoise arches instead of the classic yellow.

That design choice was originally made to blend into Sedona’s red rock landscape. Now it is being turned into a sneaker. And because Devin Booker has strong ties to Arizona, the whole thing circles back to his personal story.

There are two versions and one is hard to get

There’s a standard version of the shoe that drops June 2. But the more exclusive pair is the all-turquoise “Friends and Family” edition, and it’s not something you can just buy.

McDonald’s is giving away only 50 pairs through its rewards system.

To get a chance at the limited pair, you’ll need to go through the McDonald’s app. The process requires you to join MyMcDonald’s Rewards, enter the sweepstakes between May 22–28, and buy one of the new specialty drinks: Dirty Dr Pepper, Orange Dream, Sprite Berry Blast, Blackberry Passion Fruit Refresher, Strawberry Watermelon Refresher, or Mango Pineapple Refresher.

If you are just trying to get the regular version, it’s more straightforward. The Nike Book 2 McDonald’s edition will be available on Nike’s website, through the SNKRS app, and in select retail stores. Retail price is expected to be around $155.

There’s also a one-day pop-up store coming, though details are still pending.

McDonald’s making sneakers with Nike wasn’t on most people’s bingo card. But if this drop lands the way they expect, this probably won’t be the last time your favorite fast-food spot shows up in your closet.
