If you bought a pair of heated socks at Costco recently, this is for you. Heated socks sold at the retail chain are being recalled after reports that they caused burns.

More than 200,000 pairs of battery-powered socks are involved, and customers are being told to stop using them immediately—207,806 pairs to be specific.

The recall involves heated socks from 32 Degrees, designed to keep your feet warm using built-in battery-powered heating. They were sold in black, in medium, large, and extra-large sizes, both in stores and online.

The prices of the socks ranged between $30 and $46.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the issue happens when a combination of heat, friction, moisture, and pressure builds up while wearing them. These aren’t unusual conditions. They can happen during normal use from walking to standing for long periods or being active.

There have been 14 reported incidents tied to the socks. 13 of those resulted in first- or second-degree burns. That’s why the recall is being treated as a serious safety issue.

What to do if you have them

If you picked up heated socks from Costco at any point from August 2025, you might want to stop using them immediately. No testing it out. No second chances.

You don’t have to be concerned about losing money, as you can return them to Costco for a full refund.

It is important to take this warning seriously, as heated socks, like any heated clothing, generate heat directly against your skin. That adds a level of risk, especially when combined with everyday movement and moisture.
