Consumer Cellular launches phone plans for seniors 75+ from $14.95

Smartphones have gotten incredibly powerful over the years. But they have also gotten more complicated. Tiny icons, endless menus, constant updates, and increasingly crowded screens can make staying connected feel more frustrating than helpful, especially for older adults.

Now, Consumer Cellular is betting that simpler might be better with SpeakEasy, a new wireless brand built specifically for adults aged 75 and older.

A phone service built for the 75+ crowd

Consumer Cellular says SpeakEasy wasn't created by stripping down existing phones. Instead, the company says it built the experience from the ground up around how older adults actually communicate and use technology.

According to the company, the new brand is designed to address the idea that technology often doesn't feel like it was designed with seniors in mind. An AARP survey found that three in five adults over 50 believe technology isn't designed for their age group. For people over 75, those challenges can become even more pronounced.

Two devices, one goal

SpeakEasy is launching with two phones: the SpeakEasy Flip and the SpeakEasy Smart. Priced at $79.95, the flip phone focuses on ease of use. Features include large and easy-to-read buttons, front-facing volume controls, extra-loud speakers, and a simplified interface. Plans for the flip phone start at $14.95 per month and include 500MB of data.

For customers who still want a smartphone experience, SpeakEasy is also offering the SpeakEasy Smart for $99.95. The device features a large display, big icons and buttons, simplified menus, easy access to calls, texts, photos, and video chats. Plans start at $19.95 per month and include 3GB of data.

Customer support is a big part of the pitch

One of Consumer Cellular's biggest selling points has long been customer service. The company says all SpeakEasy customers will receive access to its 100% U.S.-based support team, along with unlimited talk and text on all plans.

The devices are available online, through customer service representatives, and in Consumer Cellular's growing network of retail stores across 33 states.

Launch deals and availability

Both SpeakEasy devices are available now. To encourage early adopters, Consumer Cellular is offering two free months of service and free shipping. Keep in mind that the promotion runs through December 31, 2026.
