Free food is back on the menu at Chick-fil-A. The chain is bringing back one of its most beloved traditions this summer and it involves dressing up like a cow.

If that sounds familiar, you're probably remembering Cow Appreciation Day, the promotion that literally gets customers dressed in cow attire free food. After disappearing in its traditional form during the pandemic, it is finally making a comeback.

Cow Appreciation Day is coming back

As part of its 80th anniversary celebration, Chick-fil-A is reviving Cow Appreciation Day on July 14. Customers who visit participating locations dressed in cow-inspired attire between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. local time can receive a free entrée while supplies last. Kids who participate will also receive a new Cow Kart toy.

It's one of the chain's longest-running promotions and ties directly into the famous "Eat Mor Chikin" cows that have been part of Chick-fil-A's marketing for decades.

The free-food announcement arrives alongside the return of another customer favorite: the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich. The sandwich first launched in 2023 and quickly became Chick-fil-A's best-selling seasonal menu item ever.

It features an Original or Spicy chicken filet, pimento cheese, mild pickled jalapeños, a toasted bun, and a drizzle of honey. The sandwich returns June 8 for a limited time.

Summer drinks are making a comeback too

Chick-fil-A is not stopping with sandwiches. Several seasonal drinks are returning, including Pineapple Dragonfruit Lemonade, Pineapple Dragonfruit Iced Tea, Pineapple Dragonfruit Sunjoy, and Pineapple Dragonfruit Frosted Lemonade.

There is also a new Pineapple Dragonfruit & Sprite option joining the lineup. And for peach fans, the Peach Milkshake and Peach Frosted Lemonade are returning as well.

With this lineup of seasonal drinks, free entrées, and returning fan-favorite menu items, Chick-fil-A is betting that a little nostalgia still goes a long way. And if you have children who have never experienced Cow Appreciation Day, they might find showing up to a restaurant in a cow-inspired costume fun.
