There was a time when 39 cents could get you a burger. And somehow, that memory is strong enough to bring a nearly extinct fast-food chain back to life.

Hot ‘n Now, the drive-thru-only burger spot that quietly disappeared in the early 2000s, is officially making a comeback. Here is everything we know about the brand's return.

From 150 locations to basically one

Hot ‘n Now started in Kalamazoo, Michigan, back in 1984. At its peak, it had more than 150 locations across 15 states. The concept was simple: it was just a drive-thru with fast service and ridiculously cheap burgers.

It worked. Until it didn’t. By the early 2000s, locations started shutting down fast. Ownership changes didn’t help, and by 2016, there was literally just one location left standing in Sturgis, Michigan.

But then, in 2024, a franchisor called HNN Holdings picked up the brand and decided to revive it. The goal is to stick to the quick and affordable burgers that made it work in the first place.

A new location now stands in Wayland, Michigan, reportedly built in just a day using a pre-fab setup. Opening day showed how welcome the comeback is, as people showed up like it was a reunion tour, as reported by WGRD 97.9.

About the prices…

Burgers are not 39 cents anymore. That era is gone for good, we can all agree.

The new menu puts burgers somewhere between about $2.77 and $4.97. Combos land in the $6-$9 range, and a 10-burger pack runs about $27.77. So it is more expensive than it used to be. But in 2026, it’s still relatively cheap. And for a lot of people, the nostalgia alone is doing half the marketing.
