Wendy’s launches new adult meal with exclusive collectible toys
Wendy’s is planning a foray into the collectible toy game and this time, adults are invited too. The chain is rolling out a new Minions & Monsters collaboration packed with collectible figures, themed drinks, and a brand-new Frosty flavor. And for the first time, exclusive blind-box collectibles will be inside a meal designed specifically for adults.
Starting June 15, customers can order the new Minions & Monsters Meal, which comes with one of four exclusive blind-box collectibles inspired by the upcoming animated film. The catch is you won't know which figure you're getting until you open the box.
There is also a new Banana Frosty
The collaboration introduces an all-new Banana Frosty Swirl, which mixes banana cream sauce into Wendy's Vanilla Frosty base. Given that the Minions have spent years making bananas part of their personality, this was probably the most predictable menu item in the entire promotion.
Still, it sounds like the kind of flavor fans have been asking Wendy's to experiment with for years. The adult meal includes a Big Bacon Classic or Spicy Chicken Sandwich, small fries, a Banana Frosty Swirl, and one blind-box collectible.
The chain is also launching Pineapple Minion MischieFizz and Goomi's Glimey Lime, two movie-inspired beverages through Coca-Cola Freestyle machines.
Kids get their own version too
The promotion actually starts with a separate Minions & Monsters Kids' Meal, which is already available nationwide. Each kids' meal includes one of six character toys: James, Henry, Ed, Richard, Goomi, and Dort.
Like the adult collectibles, they are designed to encourage collecting the full set. So, as a parent, expect to hear "Can we go back tomorrow?" at least once. And if history is any guide, some customers will be ordering the meal for the toy first and figuring out what to do with the fries later.
