Wendy's brings back fan favorite sauce after social media outcry

Sometimes it pays to make your opinion heard, at least that's what Wendy's customers have learned. The fast food chain is bringing back a discontinued menu item after customers made their feelings known.

Some sauces were dropped from the menu last year

Wendy's introduced chicken tenders to its menu last year, and initially offered three sauces. Customers could choose from the Scorchin' Hot Sauce, Sweet Chili, or Wendy's Signature.

When they offered the new sauces, they ended up getting rid of some existing sauces, including the Sweet & Sour sauce. It seems that was a bridge too far for some customers.

For many, the dipping sauce can make or break a meal.

Cue the uproar

The outcry from angry customers happened pretty much immediately. Not every company listens to customer feedback, but Wendy's showed it had its ear to the ground.

It was announced that the Sweet & Sour sauce would return "sometime in 2026" and now it looks like it's finally dropping. For those who have been waiting for the comeback, your wait has paid off.

Back for a limited time

Unfortunately, the excitement may be short-lived. Wendy's posted the return on its Instagram page with the following message: "Sweet & Sour is BACK...but only for a limited time unless y'all get loud. Go get the sauce in-restaurant."

This isn't exactly the news that sweet and sour sauce fans want to hear. Sure, it's back, but not permanently. The FOMO is real, and Wendy's is counting on it.

Grab it while you can

If you're a fan of the sweet and tangy sauce, this is a no-brainer. You need to grab it while you can. Wendy's has also proven it listens to customer feedback, so don't hold back if you want the sauce to be a permanent offering.
