Trader Joe's reveals locations for 25 brand new stores in 14 states

Trader Joe's is expanding, and this could be good news for you. The popular grocery store chain is going through a phase of rapid expansion and will open 25 stores in 14 states by the end of the year.

A Trader Joe's is coming to a location near you

This announcement increases your odds of having a Trader Joe's nearby, which could be music to your ears. Considering the year is more than halfway done, there are still a lot of locations scheduled to open.

What makes this news more impactful is that the grocer already opened 34 locations in 2024 and 43 in 2025. It seems to be on a mission with no plans of stopping.

The opening soon list has been updated

While many of the new locations don't have specific opening dates as of yet, they are all supposed to be open by the end of 2026.

Trader Joe's updated its "coming soon" map to include these new spots:

Sarasota, FL
Phoenix, AZ
West Jordan, UT
Quincy, MA
Chicago, IL
Farmington, MI
Syracuse, NY
Yonkers, NY
University Heights, OH

This list shows just how widespread the expansion plans are, including several big markets across the country. These are in addition to stores already announced in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Utah, and Washington.

There are specific criteria Trader Joe's uses

When it comes to pinpointing new locations, the grocer uses a specific list of criteria. According to the company's official podcast, Inside Trader Joe's, the grocer factors in things like traffic patterns, population density, and supply chain logistics.

States like Hawaii and Alaska obviously have challenges that some others don't, such as supply chain logistics.

Odds are high that you'll have a nearby location

As Trader Joe's continues to expand, you'll want to check back on their website to see if your town or city ends up on the coming soon list.
