Famed Superman and Oscar-nominated Lenny actress Valerie Ritchie Perrine has died at 82 years old. Diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease more than 15 years ago, Perrine had a long and successful Hollywood career.
A trailblazer from Vegas to Krypton
Perrine's acting career spans decades, but for many fans, her role as Eve Teschmacher in the 1978 movie, Superman, was her most iconic. She is also a multi-award nominee for the movie Lenny.
A documentary profiled her life and Parkinson's diagnosis
In 2020, the documentary Valerie was released, which starred Perrine as herself. It documented Perrine's life, discussing her early years, career, and her Parkinson's diagnosis.
The documentary ended up being her last role in front of the camera.
Close friend confirmed her death on social media
The director of Valerie, Stacey Souther, was a close friend of Perrine. Souther was the first to announce the news of Perrine's passing, posting a statement to social media.
“It is with deep sadness that I share the heartbreaking news that Valerie has passed away. She faced Parkinson’s disease with incredible courage and compassion, never once complaining. She was a true inspiration who lived life to the fullest — and what a magnificent life it was. The world feels less beautiful without her in it."
