Seniors are shown the love with new menu items at Freddy's
Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers is showing the love to seniors by targeting them with new menu items. The Senior Meals come with an entree, drink, and a choice of side. It's a fresh take on the typical kids' menu. And just as you'd assume, there is an emphasis on value.
Giving seniors a tasty reason to check them out
Freddy’s is doing the math, and it turns out the kids aren't the only ones who want a Happy Meal equivalent. Freddy's menu is available for those 55 years and older. This means Gen X and Boomers can take advantage of the value pricing.
“We’re excited to add Senior Meals to the menu and to give our senior guests the option of ordering some of their Freddy’s favorites at a great value,” said Erin Walter, chief marketing officer. “Every meal is prepared and presented with the premium quality and craveable taste guests expect whenever they dine at Freddy’s.”
Seniors can choose from a handful of tasty options
Seniors love a good deal, but if the food can't back it up, it won't be successful. Once again, Freddy's has gone all-in.
You will pick an entree, a side, and a drink. Portion sizes are on the smaller side, but there is an option to upsize. The entrees seniors can choose from are a grilled chicken sandwich, a single cheeseburger, a hot dog, or a crispy chicken sandwich. You'll be able to choose fries or tots as the side.
The emphasis on Gen X and Boomers is intentional
Gen X makes up only 19% of the US population, yet its spending equals a whopping 31%. Baby Boomers are the wealthiest generation with huge spending power. It's no wonder that Freddy's decided to focus on both of them. Follow the money!
Freddy's may be creating a new trend
Freddy's isn't the first to offer a seniors' menu, but this is still a big deal. As Gen X and Baby Boomers continue to age, and their spending power stays strong, be on the lookout for other restaurants to follow suit. If this catches on, expect your favorite fast-casual spots to start trading toy prizes for senior discounts.
