Rolex launches watchmaking school in Texas for $95k Jobs
The fine art of watchmaking is alive and well in Texas, thanks to a new college opened by Rolex. Not only does this college train the next generation of professional watchmakers, but admissions are as selective as Harvard's. The best part? Not only is tuition 100% free, but Rolex actually pays its students a monthly stipend.
Expanding the Rolex Watchmaking Training Center
With only 2,000 professional watchmakers in the country, Rolex understands it's time to expand the hiring pool. This is why the company opened a Watchmaking Training Center in Dallas.
In 2024, despite having only 50 spots available at the training facility, it received more than 560 applications.
Graduates look forward to yearly earnings of $96k
You'll probably be surprised to hear the average yearly wage for a Rolex Certified Watchmaker is a stunning $96k.
In comparison, other jobs that pay this kind of money are financial analysts, IT managers, and software engineers.
The start of artisan job training
Rolex may be starting a trend with other big companies now looking at the model. Dubbed "artisan job training", it's the idea that training centers or schools are created to train for very specific career paths.
It's a win-win for watch lovers
The Rolex college is a win-win for watch lovers everywhere. The next time you glance down at your watch, think about those who are training to make sure the artform doesn't die.
