Before feeding your dog raw dog food, you'll want to ensure you don't have this one on hand. Albright's Raw Pet Food has issued a voluntary recall after a routine sampling showed Salmonella to be present.

Chicken Recipe gets a voluntary recall

The Food and Drug Administration recently conducted routine sampling of Albright's product and found Salmonella in a composite sample. This recall is for the Chicken Recipe for Dogs Complete and Balanced product.

The affected food has an expiration date of April 28, 2027, with the lot code of C001730 and the product number 20855404008367. These are one-pound pouches in clear packaging.

Various retailers in MA, CA, SC, NC, WI, and NY sold the product.

No reports of any illnesses

The good news is that the voluntary recall seems to have happened before any illnesses occurred. As of right now, there have been no reports of any illness linked to the food.

Albright's Raw Pet Food is also working to figure out just how much Salmonella is in the food. It sent the sample to a third-party lab to get a better, more complete picture.

"While we continue to evaluate all available data, Albright's Raw is proceeding with this voluntary recall to ensure the highest level of safety and transparency," said a statement issued by Albright's.

"We remain committed to producing safe, high-quality, biologically appropriate pet food and will continue to update our customers and partners as more information becomes available," the statement read.

Pet owners are warned not to take a chance

If you have recalled dog food at home, you're being warned not to take a chance by feeding it to your pet. Instead, you're advised to get rid of it where pets, children, and wildlife can't get to it.

A reminder to stay on top of recalls and warnings
