Popular Outshine fruit bars recalled nationwide over glass fears
It's summer, it's hot, and everyone is looking for ways to stay comfortable and cool. If your solution is to grab a frozen bar from your freezer, hold up, because a popular brand has now been recalled for potential glass contamination.
Dreyer's has issued a voluntary recall
It's time to check your freezer stock and read labels. Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream has issued a voluntary recall for specific lots of its popular Outshine Fruit Bars.
The recall has been issued "due to possible foreign material contamination with glass." The recall covers multiple flavors with expiration dates ranging from June to November 2027.
What you'll need to check for are the 6-count, 2.5-oz. boxes of Fruit Bars in the flavors Watermelon, Strawberry, Tangerine, Grape, and Black Cherry.
The UPC codes for these lots are 041548610047, 041548413624, 041548244044, 041548612041 and 041548000121. No other flavors or types of bars are included in the recall.
Products were sold nationwide
Compounding the issue, these bars were distributed at major retailers nationwide.
“The safety, quality, and integrity of our products remain our highest priority,” the company said. “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this action may cause our consumers and retail customers.”
No injuries or illnesses have been reported
The company says that there have been no reported injuries or illnesses to date. It's also advising people to discard the fruit bars or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
“We remain committed to maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality and to earning the trust of our consumers and customers every day,” said the company in a statement.
How to stay ahead of food recalls
This voluntary recall is just another reminder of how important it is to stay on top of product recalls, especially when it comes to food and beverages.
