It looks like you'll have fewer snacks to choose from the next time you go shopping. PepsiCo has eliminated almost a quarter of its entire snack lineup as consumer habits change.

The snack aisle is shrinking

While no one is stopping snack culture, what is happening country-wide is that people are changing their eating habits.

There has been a push for snacks with healthier ingredients, making a lot of traditional snack options unpopular. Just last year, PepsiCo said it would be focusing on products with simpler ingredients and functional benefits.

That likely explains why PepsiCo is shrinking its snack offerings by 20%. Unfortunately, that could mean a few of your favorites are on the chopping block. Rumors are that a few cult favorites are about to get the axe.

As for each specific item being affected, PepsiCo hasn't confirmed a full list.

Coca-Cola is experiencing some of the same issues

PepsiCo isn't alone in seeing changing consumer habits. Coca-Cola has also confirmed some of its longtime staples in the freezer aisle are being discontinued.

Coca-Cola has made its position very clear, stating earlier this year that the exits are because of "shifting consumer preferences."

If you're a child of the '80s or '90s, you're probably very familiar with the frozen Minute Maid juice concentrates. They were introduced in 1946, going on to become a staple in many homes.

Earlier this year, Coca-Cola, which owns Minute Maid, said it was discontinuing its frozen products. The company said consumers are shifting to fresh juices, and the demand for frozen was dropping.

Other snacks that have exited stores

Unfortunately for classic snack lovers, the list doesn't end there. Other favorites like Blue Bell Butter Crunch ice cream, Cheese Pizza Cheetos Puffs, Lay's Sweet Potato Poppables and Smartfood Movie Theater Butter Popcorn are a few reported to be gone.

Grab them while you can

While you don't want to start hoarding snack food, if you do have some favorites from PepsiCo, this may be a good time to grab them while you can.
