A new Oreo summer flavor has dropped, and it's a good one. Firecracker Pop cookies pay homage to the classic summer treats, and are meant to celebrate America's 250th birthday with their red, white, and blue theming.

A US flag-inspired creation

Picture the iconic colors of the US flag, but in cookie form. That's exactly what you get with the limited-edition Oreo Firecracker Pop cookies.

This cookie features two golden wafers with three layers of cream filling. Each layer of cream has its own flavor, with a nod to the blue, white, and red on the American flag.

Yes, this is an Oreo exclusive, but part of what makes the flavor so unique is that the company teamed up with Popsicle, in particular, its iconic Popsicle Rocket flavor.

Those familiar with the classic summertime staple know that it's red, white, and blue. Part of the fun with that popsicle was getting a taste of all three flavors when you lick it.

That flavor combination is the inspiration behind the Oreo cookie. The blue cream is raspberry-flavored, the red cream is cherry-flavored, and the white cream is lemon-flavored.

It's the perfect combo of sweet and tart. It makes the Oreo almost taste refreshing on a hot summer day.

Available in stores soon

If you can't wait to get your hands on the new limited-edition flavor, the wait is almost over. They are coming to retailers starting on May 4 and will roll out nationwide.

Oreo is already billing it as the perfect addition to your summer BBQ season, especially if you're doing a birthday theme for America's 250th.

You know the drill

When it comes to limited-edition items, you know the drill. Grab the Oreos while you can because they won't be around forever.
