Oreo has good news for anyone who loves the taste of cinnamon buns. The company has announced the return of the ultra-popular Oreo Cinnamon Bun flavor for a limited time only.

Customers have been asking for the flavor to return

Oreo has created all kinds of limited-edition flavors over the years, but according to them, Cinnamon Bun is in their top 10 most requested discontinued flavors of all time.

The flavor was released in 2016 and became a quick hit. It features a cinnamon-bun flavored creme instead of the traditional Oreo creme filling.

They were eventually discontinued in the U.S., although they remained available in Canada. Those hard up for the flavor have found a workaround by ordering the Canadian version from Amazon.

Hitting shelves for the summer season

While the official corporate nationwide release date is set for July 6, 2026, eager cookie-lovers are in luck. Because of rolling grocery distribution, eagle-eyed shoppers have already spotted the coveted Cinnamon Bun packs leaking onto shelves early at major retailers like Walmart and Target throughout late June.

However, there is a catch. When summer ends, the cookies will disappear again. So, consider yourself warned that you're going to want to stock up when you find them.

There's a good chance that noise from cookie-lovers is what brought this flavor back. Oreo had a fan vote last year that allowed people to choose which flavor they wanted to bring back.

This shows the company heard the calls and is responding.

What's old is new again

Oreo seems to be riding the wave of nostalgia lately as this isn't the first throwback flavor to hit shelves again. The popular S'mores flavor was recently relaunched but got a new Cakesters recipe.

Those with an eagle eye may have also seen the Cookie Dough flavor return last year.
