Oreo and KFC team up to launch fried chicken-flavored cookies

There are plenty of strange food pairings out there, but this one may take the cake. Oreo has teamed up with KFC to launch fried chicken-flavored cookies, and they will be available in China.

KFC has been showing its creative side lately

Even though the Oreo x KFC pairing may seem strange, KFC has been getting more and more creative lately. Its watermelon and chicken menu wasn't exactly pedestrian, so this new pairing doesn't seem as far-fetched.

Oreo describes the mash-up as inspired by the iconic KFC flavors. So no, you're not getting pieces of chicken in your cookie. The pairing is unique, but it's not crazy.

A creamy, seasoned, salty filling

What exactly can you expect when you bite into an Oreo x KFC cookie? The sweet creme filling will taste salty and seasoned, exactly like KFC fried chicken.

The chocolate cookies will still be the signature Oreo recipe, but they are stamped with the KFC logo and graphics of chicken pieces.

The box also features KFC's red-and-white branding, making it easy to spot.

While there's no information on an international release, some have spotted the cookies on a Chinese shopping platform, JD.

Not the only new flavor being released

Those in China who love the idea of a funky and creative pairing may want to check out the other new Oreo flavor too. This flavor feels a bit more grounded and is likely more of a crowd-pleaser.

The second new flavor is Retro Popcorn. You can actually purchase each of the new flavors in 87g boxes or together in a 174g two-flavor bundle.

Once again, it's the creme filling that has been tweaked rather than the chocolate sandwich cookies. The filling will taste like buttered popcorn, which should pair really well with the chocolate cookies.

Watch for more new flavors to come

If you don't live in China and you're missing out on these new flavors, have no fear because Oreo is always coming up with new pairings. Expect to see some fun ones in the fall to help celebrate Thanksgiving and Halloween.
