It's hard to believe that less than $5 will buy you a meal anywhere nowadays, but McDonald's is doing just that. Starting April 21, the fast food giant will offer a breakfast meal deal that starts at $4.

It's not just one meal

Here's what's more surprising: it's not just one value meal McDonald's will launch, but a full menu of deals. The goal is to give customers more bang for the buck.

You'll find menu items that start under $3 and go up to $6 each. These items build on the whole McValue menu concept that the chain is well-known for.

Don't worry if breakfast isn't your thing either, because value items will be available for lunch/dinner too. That includes combos priced at $5.

A closer look at what's available

Some of the menu items McDonald's is promoting include the $4 breakfast meal deal. This combo will get you a small coffee, a sausage biscuit or McMuffin, and hash browns.

The dinner/lunch menu has $5 and $6 deals. For $5, you can get the McChicken Meal Deal, and for a dollar more ($6), you can get the McDouble Meal.

This marks a huge price difference compared to the standard menu (non-McValue combos), where you're paying well over $10 per meal. It means you can probably afford to grab a quick meal at the Golden Arches more often.

The $3 and under menu is where the chain shines

As great as the $5 and $6 dinner combos sound, what many customers will be curious about is the $3 and under items.

McDonald's plans to offer various items under $3 throughout the year, so expect this menu to be more fluid. The first items to appear on it will be the McDouble listed at $2.50 and the Sausage McMuffin for $1.50.

Your money will take you much further

If you're craving McDonald's but you're trying to watch your spending, just hold off until the end of the month. The McValue Menu will keep your budget in check.
