Fast-food fans have a long memory, especially when it comes to discontinued favorites. Just mention Chicken Selects, and chances are someone will tell you all about how they’ve been waiting years for them to come back. Now, a new rumor suggests McDonald's may be making a change that could bring its current chicken strips a little closer to that fan favorite.

Big changes coming to the McCrispy lineup

According to food blogger Snackolator, McDonald's is preparing to phase out the current version of its McCrispy Strips in favor of a new recipe featuring crispier, crunchier breading.  The reported update is said to be a response to customer feedback about the current strips, with the new version also expected to make its way into future Snack Wraps. It is important to note that McDonald's has not officially confirmed the change, so for now, it remains a menu rumor rather than an announced update.

Customers are welcoming the idea

Judging from how the possibility of better chicken strips immediately sparked reactions online, the current McCrispy Strips haven't exactly been winning everyone over. After the rumor surfaced, social media quickly filled with comments from fans who felt the current recipe missed the mark.

Some celebrated the possibility of a crispier coating, while others hoped it signals a true return to the texture and flavor of the long-discontinued Chicken Selects. The internet did not hold back:

"I would sell my unborn first born for the return of Chicken Selects."

"Finally. My god the current ones are so bad. Not crispy at all."

"The Lord has heard our prayers."

The Chicken Selects nostalgia is no joke

Even though Chicken Selects disappeared years ago, they're still one of McDonald's most requested menu items. For many fans, they represent the benchmark for what McDonald's chicken strips should taste like. With the rumored change coming perhaps the crispier coating will be enough for customers.
