McDonald's brings back Monopoly game with $1 million prize
McDonald’s brought back its Monopoly game this month. On October 6, the restaurant is giving customers another excuse to inspect their food packaging like they’re hunting for buried treasure.
The familiar peel-off game pieces are back, but this time, the digital side of the game now lives inside the McDonald’s app. Peel a piece from eligible packaging, scan it in the app, and you can instantly find out whether you’ve won food, MyMcDonald’s Rewards points or an even bigger reward.
There is a $1 million prize
The top prize is a cool $1 million in cash. There are also 2027 Jeep Cherokees, Carnival cruise vacations, trips to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, and Polaris vehicles up for grabs. Other prizes include $50,000 toward a home down payment and $50,000 toward college debt, along with gift cards and free food.
Imagine all the financial work an order of fries could do.
Your McDonald’s order as a game controller
Game pieces can show up on eligible breakfast, lunch, and dinner items, including Quarter Pounders with Cheese, Egg McMuffins, large fries, and large hot and cold drinks. Some pieces give you instant food prizes or between 1,500 and 7,000 MyMcDonald’s Rewards points. Others let you collect Monopoly properties, which can unlock larger prizes, or play a digital Chance Card game.
To play digitally, customers need to register through the McDonald’s app and opt into the rewards program. If you buy an eligible item through the app or provide your rewards code when ordering, you can also get a bonus Chance Card play. Just make sure you register before ordering.
