Lisa Kudrow says Ross was a bad boyfriend in Friends
"We were on a break." A Good chance you know that's a line from the show Friends, and the character who said it was Ross. There's one person who isn't buying it, though, and that's Lisa Kudrow, who recently called out Ross as a "bad boyfriend."
Team Rachel or Team Ross
If you watched Friends live when it aired during the mid-90s to mid-2000s, then you probably remember how big of a deal it was when Ross cheated on Rachel. People were either vehemently Team Rachel or Team Ross.
It seems like Lisa Kudrow, who played the character Phoebe, was squarely in Rachel's corner on this issue. Kudrow made the revelation when she recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Being Team Rachel may not be a "hot take"
Here's the thing: Kudrow framed it as a hot take, saying she was afraid to even bring it up in front of the fans. When Fallon asked her point-blank if they were in fact on a break, she shared the following answer:
"Well, no. But it’s beyond that. It’s beyond break or not— he was a bad boyfriend."
It looks like it wasn't a hot take at all because the audience erupted in cheers, shouts, and claps as Kudrow went on to explain why she thinks Ross was in the wrong.
"To me, it’s like, I don’t care if he slept with three other women or no other women," said Kudrow. "You had a crisis at work, so you weren’t available for a few nights, and he flipped out. And you’re like, ‘Wow!'”
Times have changed
At the time, it was pretty evenly split with Ross and Rachel both getting love from the fans. This may be a case where absence didn't make the heart grow fonder and instead, fans have seen Ross' actions for what they were - cheating.
If the show was airing live today, good chance Ross wouldn't escape without backlash.
Still a beloved show
The fact is that Friends was a wildly popular sitcom, and still holds up today. If anything, the whole Team Ross or Team Rachel just makes you want to go back and watch all the seasons again.
