Electric grills recalled nationwide over severe shock hazard
If your electric grill is part of your summer cooking setup, you might want to check the model number before firing it up again. Char-Broil is recalling about 10,605 Bistro Pro Electric Grills in the U.S. because a grounding wire connected to the heating element can disconnect, potentially leaving users exposed to a serious electric shock hazard. Another 342 units were sold in Canada.
The recall was announced September 17, 2026, and covers several Bistro Pro models sold as both full-size and tabletop grills.
Check your grill before using it
The affected products include the Bistro Pro Electric Grill & Griddle + Charcoal Mode, Bistro Pro Electric Grill + Charcoal Mode and Bistro Pro Tabletop Electric Grill. They came in several finishes, including black, red, all-black “Blackout,” and emerald green. The grills have a “CB” logo on the front of the lid and “CHARBROIL” printed across the front control panel.
The easiest way to tell whether yours is involved is to check the product label for its manufacturing date code. Only grills with these three four-digit date codes are included: 2510 – October 2025, 2511 – November 2025 and 2512 – December 2025.
The model and serial number label is located on the bottom shelf of full-size grills and on the sidebar of tabletop models.
These are the models in the recall
The recalled model numbers are 25302145, 25302146, 25302147, 25302148, 25302149, 25302150, 25302151, 25302159 and 25302163. They were sold from October 2025 through June 2026 at retailers including Ace Hardware, Lowe’s, Walmart, Wayfair and QVC, as well as online through Amazon, Char-broil and other retailers.
Prices ranged from about $150 to $250.
Don't just unplug it and call it a day
Char-Broil says consumers should stop using the recalled grills immediately and contact the company for a free repair kit. The kit includes the parts and tools needed for the repair, including screws, a screwdriver, a wrench and a new label to place on the grill once the fix is complete. Consumers can register at charbroil.com/BistroProFix to receive the repair instructions and kit.
There is also a small bonus for documenting the repair. Char-Broil is offering a digital $25 gift card to consumers who provide photo documentation showing that the repair has been completed.
The good news in all of this is that no injuries or incidents have been reported. Still, an electric grill that can lose its fault protection is not exactly something you want to discover while standing barefoot beside it with a pair of tongs. So if you own a Bistro Pro Electric Grill, check that label before your next cookout.
