Disney's Halloween party fails to sell out for first time in years

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party typically acts as a huge draw to the parks. That's not the case this year, as the Magic Kingdom event failed to sell out for the first time in years.

Slumping interest could be an early red flag

Not selling out may not seem like a big deal, but for Disney Parks, this could be the canary in the coal mine, warning of what's to come.

Considering this is the first time in years that the event didn't sell out on all nights, it caught people's attention.

On the bright side, if you want tickets and usually have a hard time getting them, this could be your lucky year.

The first year set a high bar

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party was launched in October 1995. However, this year marks the first time it has failed to sell out since 2022.

At the time of publication, tickets were still available for many dates, including traditionally popular Friday and Sunday dates.

There could be a number of factors in play here, but ticket price may be a big one. Of the dates left, tickets range from $174 to $224. For a family of four, you could be looking at almost $900 for one visit.

Disney is facing stiffer competition

Another issue that could be affecting ticket sales is increased competition.

Disney isn't the only amusement park in the area, and with SeaWorld and Universal Orlando Resort also offering Halloween-themed nights, Disney isn't the automatic option.

Parkgoers are suddenly weighing things like ticket prices, the lineup of activities and entertainment, and even crowd sizes.

Don't sleep on tickets

Even though the event wasn't totally sold out, Disney did sell out 27 of the 38 dates.

That means if you are planning to go, it's not worth waiting to get your tickets. It's best to grab your tickets while you still have a wide selection of dates available.
