Costco is expanding again, with 14 new locations scheduled to open across the U.S. and Canada this fall. Five are expected to open in October, followed by nine more in November. Here is all you need to know about the new stores.

October and November openings

The first wave of new warehouses is scheduled to arrive in October, with locations planned for Camarillo, California; Lawrence, Kansas; Lee's Summit, Missouri; Amherst, New York; and The Colony, Texas.

Then November will be even busier, with nine more warehouses set to open. Costco plans to open five new locations across Chandler, Arizona; Vallejo, California; South Meridian, Idaho; Newport News, Virginia; and Franklin, Wisconsin.

Four more locations are planned for Canada in Lloydminster, Alberta; Northeast Edmonton, Alberta; East Windsor, Ontario; and Wasaga Beach, Ontario.

To be clear, not every new Costco means Costco is completely new to the area. In Newport News, for example, the new warehouse will replace a Costco that has been there since 1988. The company bought a 32-acre property nearby and plans to build a much larger 163,000-square-foot warehouse with a fuel station.

14 is not the end

The fall openings are part of a much bigger expansion push. Costco has already opened warehouses this year in several U.S. states, including California, Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, New York, Texas, Utah and Wisconsin, along with new locations in Mexico and Taiwan.

And there are more potential stores in the pipeline. Downey, California, approved plans for a new Costco earlier this year, while proposals have also surfaced in Charleston County, South Carolina and Hillsborough County, Florida. The company is also exploring possible locations in Scottsdale, Arizona; Fresno, California; Des Plaines, Illinois; Silver Spring, Maryland; Southborough, Massachusetts; and Lake St. Louis, Missouri.

The plans are in line with CEO Ron Vachris' revelation earlier this year that Costco wants to open 30 or more warehouses every year for the next five to 10 years. About half of those would be in the U.S., with the rest spread across international markets including Mexico, Canada, Asia, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

Residents in Rhode Island, West Virginia and Wyoming will have to wait a bit longer, as the company is not currently expected to expand into any new states. For everyone else, though, the Costco invasion continues.
