Costco brings back fan-favorite Kirkland chocolate chips
There are all kinds of things the Kirkland brand does right, but an undisputed fan favorite was the chocolate chips it once sold. Well, after two years, Costco has heard the cries of shoppers and is bringing back the Kirkland chocolate chips.
A product that has been missed by many
Grocery shopping has become nothing short of a battle as you try to find the best prices on quality products that taste good. The private label Kirkland brand is all about that life and continually releases products that become instant hits.
Two years ago, Costco made the rather controversial choice to discontinue the Kirkland Signature Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips. At the time, the big box wholesaler cited high cocoa prices as the reason, but shoppers were upset all the same.
Fast-forward two years, and Costco has started bringing back bags of its uber-popular chocolate chips.
The red bag is popping up in warehouses
While there's no official word yet on what exactly is returning, so far only the red bag of Kirkland semi-sweet chocolate chips is showing up on shelves. Shoppers can always ask their local warehouse for details, but again, they may not have many.
The bag is 2.04 kg (4.5 lb), making it ideal for those who love baking. You know it's going to last for many recipes.
Perfectly timed for fall baking season
Despite no official announcement, the timing couldn't be more perfect as we approach fall baking season.
Shoppers are hoping to see the Kirkland chocolate chips become permanent.
A shopper online mentioned they saw them in-store for $11.99 and that the Costco Same Day website pricing is $13.61. Meanwhile, the Costco Business Center website lists them at $12.59.
These prices are all lower than the Nestlé chocolate chips, which sell for $16.99 for the same-sized bag.
Get yourself to the baking aisle ASAP
Before you do any baking, you may want to make a quick trip to your local Costco to see if they have the Kirkland chocolate chips in stock.
