Chick-fil-A named best fast food chicken for 2026
At this point, seeing Chick-fil-A take the top spot feels less like confirmation of what drive-thru traffic has been screaming for years. But now it’s official: a massive nationwide survey says Americans have picked their chicken champion and it’s not particularly close.
In a study that surveyed over 40,000 people for almost a year, 25.3% picked Chick-fil-A as the best for fast-food chicken. That’s a solid lead over KFC and Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, which came in behind at 17.9% and 16.2% respectively. 6.8% of respondents chose Raising Cane’s as the best for fast-food chicken, while 3.5% opted for Church’s Chicken.
Customers say it’s not just the food
Yes, the sandwich has customers on a chokehold. But the hype does not end with the food.
The study found that people keep going back for consistency and freshness. You know what you are getting every time and the chicken doesn't feel like it’s been sitting under a heat lamp waiting for you.
Service is also another point of satisfaction for customers at Chick-fil-A. According to a diner, there is a warm feeling they get from how they are greeted by team members. The genuine smiles and clean dining areas all come together with the great taste of the meal to make the entire experience a pleasant one.
As one respondent said, the long drive-thru lines are indeed proof that Chick-fil-A is really the all-rounder.
Some people beg to differ
As much as a lot of people report high positive sentiment toward the brand, Chick-fil-A is not universally loved. Due to its leadership’s past political and religious positions, the brand still sparks mixed reactions.
For some people in the survey, the food is good, the service is great, but they would rather take their money elsewhere that feels more aligned with their personal values.
So, while it’s winning on taste and experience, it’s not a clean sweep culturally.
