Campbell's is launching frozen bowls for the first time
Campbell’s is taking its iconic Chunky Soup line into the freezer aisle. Rolling out soon are Campbell's Chunky Soup frozen meals, with a boost of protein.
All the most popular flavors
Fans of Campbell's Chunky Soup probably have a favorite flavor or two, and there's a good chance you'll find frozen versions of them.
The frozen version will pack in a ton of protein, offering up to 28 grams. All in all, there will be eight Chunky Frozen Bowls to choose from.
Here's a look at the lineup:
- Beef Pasta with Stroganoff Sauce
- Buffalo-Style Chicken Mac and Cheese
- Bacon Cheeseburger Mac and Cheese
- Chili Mac
- Country Fried Chicken with Mashed Potatoes
- Meat Lovers' Lasagna
- Philly Cheesesteak Mac and Cheese
- Cheesy Loaded Potato Bowl with Steak and Bacon
Meant to be a complete meal
Because each Chunky Frozen Bowl is packed with protein, the idea is that it's a complete meal. They are small enough to pack in a lunch bag to take to work, and easily stack in your freezer at home.
“With Chunky Frozen Bowls, we’re bringing that same fill-you-up promise to the freezer aisle. ... As more consumers turn to frozen for everyday meals, we saw an opportunity to raise the bar by offering convenient, satisfying meals that actually fill you up,” said Gunner Siverly, Chunky’s frozen brand manager, in an email statement.
Leaning into the protein trend
There's no question this is Campbell's leaning into the ultra-popular protein trend right now. What's fun is that it's not the typical item you'd expect to offer a protein boost.
Protein bars don't appeal to everyone, so this could be a perfect alternative.
According to the International Food Information Council, 70% of Americans want to boost their protein intake. There is a market and a demand.
Rolling out now
There's no official word from the brand about which stores will carry it, but chances are it will start showing up in most major grocery stores.
