Burger King is rolling out a new Whopper Guarantee that ensures your disappointing burger could literally earn you another burger. If your Whopper doesn't meet your expectations, the restaurant will remake it and give you your next Whopper for free.

Burger King knows people have opinions about their Whoppers

People are very particular about their burger orders. Extra pickles. No onions. Light mayo. Heavy ketchup. Cut in half. Add bacon. Hold the tomatoes because they looked at you funny.

Burger King knows custom orders are a big deal, especially since its famous slogan has always been "Have It Your Way." Now the company is putting that promise on the line. According to Burger King, if your Whopper isn't made the way you ordered it or otherwise doesn't meet expectations, employees will remake it on the spot and offer your next Whopper for free.

The Whopper Guarantee is part of Burger King's comeback plan

The new policy isn't happening in a vacuum. It is part of Burger King's turnaround strategy, which includes restaurant remodels, menu improvements, and a renewed focus on customer experience.

Earlier this year, the chain even invited customers to text or call Burger King U.S. President Tom Curtis directly with feedback. Apparently, customers had plenty to say.

"We're not going to get everything right every single time, but we're committed to listening intently and improving every day," Curtis said while announcing the new initiative.

Meet the "Your Way Champion"

Burger King is also introducing what might be one of the most video game-sounding job titles in fast food: the Your Way Champion. These specially designated restaurant managers are focused almost entirely on the guest experience.

Their job is to greet customers, make sure orders come out correctly, and fix problems when they don’t, including activating the new Whopper Guarantee. Think of them as customer support but for burgers.

A guarantee you hopefully never need

Nobody wants to receive a disappointing burger. But if your Whopper arrives looking more like a "before" photo than an advertisement, Burger King will make an attempt to soften the blow.

Whether the new guarantee wins over skeptical customers remains to be seen. One thing's for sure, though: the next time your Whopper isn't exactly your way, complaining might actually pay off.
