If you're a fan of the Bed Bath & Beyond items and experience, you're going to be jumping for joy. The company has announced it is purchasing The Container Store and will rebrand locations as The Container Store / Bed Bath & Beyond.

A massive $150 million deal

The merger cost the retailer a whopping $150 million and means The Container Store will now be wholly owned by Bed Bath & Beyond. The deal will close in early July after going through the standard regulatory requirements.

The financial aspect is only a small part of the story. The bigger part is what's in it for shoppers?

The Container Store will go through a massive re-branding

Step one for Bed Bath & Beyond will be a massive rebranding of The Container Store. Not only will there be a new name on the signs, but shoppers can expect to see much more variety in the stores.

According to a letter sent to shareholders, the plan is to offer a lot more home services at The Container Store. There will be a focus on making the locations an "Everything Home" destination for shoppers.

This means less running around for you, because you may be able to find everything you need in one spot.

Physical stores are huge, allowing for lots of variety

What makes this merger more exciting is just how much space The Container Store locations typically have. Most have about 21,000ft², which is a whole lot of floor space.

Now picture how much they can do in terms of offering organization, storage solutions, kitchen, bath, bedding, and more. If the goal is to create a sense of excitement with the rebrand, this is a good way to build hype.

Shopping for home decor and wares is about to be even easier

This merger means you're much more likely to have a physical Bed Bath & Beyond location near you. You can go ahead and start making your shopping list now.
