For those who live in India or plan to visit India and are massive fans of the Hard Rock Cafe, this news is going to hit hard. The brand has announced the closure of 10 iconic locations within India.

Curtain falls on huge partnership

Hard Rock Cafe has terminated its licensing agreement with JSM Corporation Pvt Ltd., which is the local partner for the hospitality brand. The partner brand was responsible for managing the cafe operations across India.

The closures weren't on anyone's radar and came as a shock to customers and the industry. Hard Rock Cafe made the announcement on March 16, 2026.

A slice of Americana around the globe

The brand represents Americana pop culture through its decor, vibe, and menu. It was a chance for locals to get a taste of the United States without leaving India.

Several of the locations that are closing have big cult followings, and were known for their live entertainment and music-themed atmosphere. It's the kind of vibe that can't be replaced by another local restaurant.

A glimmer of hope

Locals will be happy to hear there is still a glimmer of hope that the brand could be revived. Hard Rock International has said it's looking at ways to remain in India and potentially restructure its operations.

The locations shutting down include Bengaluru, Delhi, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Pune. In Bengaluru alone, there are three outlets, including those at the international airport and Whitefield. The Hyderabad Hitech City area location will also close.

It will be missed in India

If the Hard Rock Cafe was on your list of restaurants to check out while in India, you're going to need to change your plans. The only good thing is that hopefully, this is just a temporary setback for the brand in India.
