If you're missing the nostalgia of the 1980s dine-in restaurant scene, you're going to be thrilled with this news. Daland Corporation, a Kansas-based Pizza Hut franchisee, is going all in on its throwback era by bringing back its 1980s dine-in look.

Get that old-school dine-in experience

Those of a "certain age" will remember the retro vibe of any Pizza Hut dine-in experience in the 1980s. It was a whole scene, from the cheesy thick pizza, to heavy and even a bit tacky decor, and, of course, the all-you-can-eat salad bar.

It wasn't just a restaurant to grab pizza, it was supposed to feel family-friendly, authentic, and unique all at the same time.

Now, everything old is new again, with the franchisee already converting 38 of its 93 locations into the retro look straight out of the 80s.

What to expect at the converted restaurants

If you've got one of these converted locations nearby, you can expect to walk in the door and instantly be transported to the classic look Pizza Hut used to have.

Conversions include a return to red vinyl booths, Tiffany-style stained-glass overhead lighting, plastic checkered tablecloths, and the iconic salad bar.

With sales at the chain trending downwards, the hope is that this return to the classic look and feel will generate buzz and bring people back.

The Book It program awards kids with free pizza

With the price of everything going up, parents will be thrilled to know the company's "Book It" program is still going strong. Kids in the program need to hit a monthly reading target, and then they can cash in for a free personal pan pizza.

Parents are the ones who set the reading goals, making the program customizable.

The program is active during the summer months (June through August). You can sign up for the program, track your progress, and redeem rewards through the app.

A retro vibe that you may be craving

Whether you love the retro vibes or you crave the classic atmosphere, Pizza Hut's renovations could be just what you're after.
