A Chick-fil-A worker found $10,000 in a bathroom and did the unthinkable
Bathrooms in restaurants can be dodgy at the best of times, so imagine walking in one and finding thousands of dollars. That's exactly what happened at a Chick-fil-A restaurant when an employee found two envelopes full of cash and turned them in.
Envelopes filled with $10,000 worth of cash
The incident took place on Good Friday in a Chick-fil-A in Kinston, NC. The employee, Jaydon Cintron, was taking his break and walked into the men's washroom.
Cintron quickly spotted two envelopes on the floor, sitting beside the toilet.
"My first thought was just like... okay, no, this isn't happening. Something is wrong," said Cintron.
Sure enough, stashed inside the envelopes was cash. One envelope was labeled Truist Bank, and the other was labeled First Citizens Bank.
Immediately turned in the cash
Cintron didn't hesitate. The 18-year-old knew he needed to turn the cash in. He said it was the right thing to do.
After telling his boss about the envelopes, they tried to identify who it belonged to by using security video. Unfortunately, they had no luck. Then on Monday, the mystery was solved.
The person who left the cash came forward.
Awarded for his good deed
The fact that Cintron didn't even think about keeping the cash made an impression on people.
"A lot of people will... unfortunately, take that money and run with it," said Kinston Police Chief Keith Goyette.
The owner of the money obviously felt the same and was so grateful for Cintron's honesty and his good deed that he gave him a $500 award. After some initial reluctance, Cintron accepted the award.
"True leadership, you know, true integrity is doing the right thing when no one is watching," said restaurant owner John McPhaul. "Jaydon did that in this case, and he should be commended for it."
A feel-good story all around
This is the kind of feel-good story that speaks volumes about Chick-fil-A and its employees. So next time you're craving a little chicken, you may want to hit up the chain.
